The type of plane matters. Would prefer only the A380 [ which I have flown in economy & is my personal favorite ] or the latest A350

To be honest for me the type of plane is an irrelevancy on the whole, the exception being at Dubai with a completely segregated boarding from the lounges to the plane on the 380. For me it is the layout and comfort (and obviously the other aspects of the service) that are more important than the type of plane (yes they often go hand in hand with each airline) which is why I would avoid an Emirates 777 in business but may well fly in another airlines 777 if the lay out is 1-2-1

More important than the plane is what the airline have done with it - this was one of the reasons as I have said elsewhere why my recent experience on an Oman Air 787 where they ensure in business all seats have aisle access without the need to climb over your neighbor means I would be happy to recommend the plane with 2-2-2 when I would not with many other carriers
