The most annoying carousels are at SFO where they are oblongs with two possible sides for baggage exit, diametrically opposite each other. I have found no way of telling which one they will use. The other day I staked my position by one, they started to use the other, so I moved around to it, and then they started the first, from which my bag ultimately emerged.
