So has anyone ever successfully booked a seat on Executive Economy prior to Internet Check-In? I tried today for SQ 21/22 and was declined.

Also, is it worth getting a KrisFlyer number and account and linking it up just to be able to use on-line check-in? My father (who is flying this trip) is going to be on a CO flight (on the same ticket) beforehand anyway, and I'm thinking that OLCI may mess things up there. Any thoughts?
