I didn't word that correctly: To clarify, the issue was not in booking the room in someone else's name using points; it was whether the benefits of my higher status would be available if we booked using points from my husband's lower status account. We were told "no". Above, Christina Z. said: "You will enjoy your Platinum benefits when you check in." So, that leaves a couple of questions:

1. Was the issue that we tried to do this at the hotel? If we had pre-booked the room through customer service, using my husband's points but putting the room in my name, would we have been entitled to the benefits of my higher status? My understanding was that the terms of the program prohibit this.

2. Is it possible to do this (and get the higher status) using a free night certificate? Again, my understanding is that the program prohibits this.
