Kimpton La Peer - West Hollywood

What is your Rewards Club status? Spire (Ambassador)

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? No

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked one night with Chase MC free night and one night using 70K points. Online booking offered King Terrace, which sounded nice. When I asked at check in if there was an upgrade for Spire, was offered an "executive room" with a large tub; I declined because I preferred a terrace over a tub. Both rooms were on the second floor (spa room was much larger).

How are the rooms? This room was very ordinary, nothing special except for the terrace. Blue skies, sunny day so I was glad for the terrace room which was on the pool/bar side of hotel. However, second floor view was of rooftops, HVAC units and a giant electrical transponder pole--wires all over. Water pressure in show was very low, small cramped bathroom.

[If you are Spire and Inner Cricle]
How was your complimentary welcome amenity?
None.

Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take? Offered $10 raid the minibar or 600 points--took the points. However, eventually was given a $10 minibar credit for Kimpton Secret Password, so took a 1 oz bag of cookies.

Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive? Not offered.

Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value? No spa

What was good and what was bad? Good was beautiful common areas. Everything else IMO was sorely lacking to bad, especially considering this property's starting rate was $500, which seems to be the norm here. No mention of Spire, no discussion of IHG/Spire/hotel perks at check-in. Complimentary coffee was bad as was the bar and restaurant service/overpriced food. Housekeeping had not cleaned the room by 3 p.m. Constant text messages from concierge offering help--when I did ask them about a tour they was sent a link to Viator. Wine at 5 p.m. can be had on sale at Trader Joes (very cheap).

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? No, and I am kicking myself for having used 70K points. I've stayed at a number of Kimptons (from Grand Cayman to much more modest properties). La Peer was the worst Kimpton experience.
