On a flight to the US this week there was specific reference to “bars will close approximately one hour before landing for customs reasons” which I don’t recall ever hearing before. Is that new? Or have I just never paid attention before?

However crew were happy to supply alcohol upon request during the flight, and during the second meal service. I’m guessing the bars were closed as the crew cleared up after the second meal.
