Stagger Transfers?
Over a period of three days, I transferred 240,000 points (Day 1), 240,000 points (Day 2), and 180,000 (Day 3) points from Marriott to AA. This was meant to comply with the 240,000 point daily transfer limit. On the AA side, the miles for Day 1 showed up 48 hours later as expected. The same was true for the Day 3 miles. However, AA never recognized the Day 2 miles. Presumably, AA thought the Day 1 and Day 2 transfers were a duplicate request and disregarded the second one. What makes this harder to track is that Marriott sent two transfers per request -- base transfer and a separate bonus AA miles (5,000 per 60,000 miles transferred). These transfers show up as being requested on Day -1 and Day 1 for one pair, and Day 2 and Day 3. Thus, AA can correctly claim that they have four different days recorded to match my claim of three days of transfers. Although both AA and Marriott reps try to help, I'm not sure how to reconcile this. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
To avoid this in the future, I wonder if staggering the transfers would have been better -- either space out the days or just transfer 240,000, 180,000, 240,000, to avoid confusion.
