No, more like AS will set U > 0 for the purposes of processing Y->F upgrades while A (award F) = 0 and stays there. If you have elite status and you get the upgrade W->U the only thing you lose in the deal is lounge access (not applicable in SFO). What this hurts is non-elites on an award where W was available, A wasn't and never is opened (and AS doesn't auto-upgrade W->A like W->U). They'll stay in coach.

If you're running an EF alert on A you'll be fine, but it may never open, and AS IME is stingy on A on ex-VX birds in the pmVX configuration. What you really want is to go to a 12F Airbus/738 or an E75.
