Quick update; somehow they managed to offer me a renovated Duplex Suite from Wing 1. I have to say that none was available if one wanted to pay for one, not to mention with points. But somehow they pulled it off.
So far most impressions are really good. Staff is super nice, as you would expect everywhere in Thaïland. The suite is awesome, functional and decorated with taste. The resort is really nice. Yes, some slight signs of aging (pool chairs, beach area etc) but nothing major. Some kids here and there but I'll see more tomorrow. One watch item is the temperature in the room as the AC seems to have a hard time keeping up. The Italian restaurant is seriously awesome! And I am a a fussy foodie.
