I then received an email with a receipt, a tracking number for the CKGS website, and another email saying my application is "Under Process" at the consulate.

The application shifted to "Under Process" on 2020-02-03. Hopefully will not take forever.

Total expense so far: $100 CBP + $46.95 (Indian Govt + CKGS चंदा) + $15 (USPS photo fees) + two time postage charges
Thanks for detailed explaination. You are totally right about CKGS. When i filled up my application on passport seva website it generated a application with New York embassy address. As per CKGS website i live in florida so my jurisdiction is Atlanta and i sent my docs to them. Today after a week they rejected my application saying please apply under Atlanta jurisdiction and not New York.

Did you guys got an option to select jurisdiction when applying on passport seva crappy website : https://portal4.passportindia.gov.in/Online/welcomeLink.I tried to fill in one more application but it does not gives any option like that apart from asking the US address.

Not sure what to do here.Maybe i will need to send my application to New York CKGS itself

Regards.
