This Is A Very Sad Day

This is indeed a very sad day for US Air and the airline industry. It is sad for the employees, the stockholders, the management, the flying public, and everybody connected to the airline industry. We can speculate and conjecture all we want, but the reality is, despite the hype, and no matter the outcome, no party, except maybe the attorneys, will truly benefit; and when everything is said and done, this could really be the beginning of the end for US Air.

The airline industry can be a tough go even at its best. There are, and have been, too many egos, too much empire building, and a lack of foresight by all the parties, including, but not limited to, management, the unions, including the pilots and mechanics, the financial institutions, the attorneys, and even some of the vendors.

I hope US Air, and all the airlines, survive and prosper with as little carnage as possible. However, the stark reality here is that the financing and commitments by all parties involved will probably not occur, and US Air will face liquidation.

No one party can be held responsible for what is going on at US Air, and in the industry. But if they don’t, and can’t, even attempt to work together, there will be nothing left. I have not flown US Air in many years. Nevertheless, I wish all parties the best of luck, and, again, I hope US Air survives and eventually prospers.
