It wasn't very reassuring that the email gave an incomplete US telephone number (+189062674) but the UK number beneath (+442032500145) got me through. The CS Agent assured me that MCT in MIA is now 1h 35m. That sounds like asking for a miracle, with a guarantee that the bags will be left in MIA, even if we are not. Flight date is July 29, so plenty of time for further changes, I guess. Option offered is 20:01 ex MIA for MCO but five hours in MIA sounds like torture. I think I'll chance it and take (or miss) the 16:43 departure.
The 1hr 35 MCT makes sense, but is tight. Immigration at Miami is really fast now it's using facial recognition with arrivals from some airlines. The GE lane spits out a receipt.. you just look at the camera, no fingerprints or inserting passport. I last used MIA in December. My wife and son (who don't have global entry) were at the baggage belt 10 minutes after leaving the plane. I have GE, but took longer as I was behind Rod Stewart and the CBP officers were taking selfies with him, and not collecting our receipts! Of course it depends on how many flights rock up at the same time but even then the processing is quick. They filter out passengers from airlines not participating in the facial recognition thing. How it works, I don't know, but at some point the CBP get the bio-data off the passports.
