Of course Chairman Parker will be slowing shifting flights from LAX to PHX. Chairman Parker is of a LCC mindset- that is his business model.
He built AA with way to much debt to be competitive with DL, UA, or foriegn carriers. AA can only sustain on a hub basis where there is not competition. Chairman Parker pulled out of JFK, has been pulling out of ORD. LAX is next. No question about it. Corona virus or not.
Expect more OCONUS flights out of PHX over the next five years- and a steady reduction out of LAX......
As a side note- please don't feel sorry for Chairman Parker. Before the so called merger that loaded AA with huge debt- Chairman Parker's net worth was estimated in the very high six figures, very low seven figures. Today it is nine figures. He has sold many millions of dollars worth of AA stock, and sold every single share at a much higher price than AA's current price..... he is no dummy.....
