Hmm, I feared that it will be like that. This rule really sux. It's like eating only half a meal in the restaurant and then being charger more cause you didn't eat up.

It’s nothing like a restaurant meal at all. This is a transportation service. It is widely known that for almost all fares in all markets the ticketed flights must be taken in sequence, otherwise the remainder auto cancel. While it may look fine online, your ticket is no longer valid unless CX explicitly reinstates it.
