I myself have been told "I'm the next one in line" and then a battlefield upgrade given to someone else... so I know the feeling- but I don't think the GA's have all that much to do with the order anymore....
I believe it runs by computer if they choose that option, but I believe that they have full control in case of extenuating circumstances, etc. What makes me suspicious is the consistency of my experience there and the GA's insistence on keeping me in the dark concerning my queue.
Concerning your “battlefield upgrade” quote CraigS, are you giving a general example or specific to EWR?
Channa’s point is well taken, but this happens even when there are 2 Rev seats 1 hour prior to departure. Do you fly out of EWR often channa?
