There is nothing hostile in my attitude. I do not believe that a problem known in advance is a justification for the airline to give an upgrade. The person is in a position to make a decision on whether to travel in the class paid or whether he needs to pay for a higher class ( or use miles to upgrade if his membership is in a market which allows it ). If he was already away and this had occurred before the return, then I would be suggesting that this is perhaps something to take up with his travel insurer.

I am pretty tall, if I travel in economy in a non exit row, I would be uncomfortable and it is unsuitable for me for a long journey, is this a good reason why I should be upgraded or is it an issue where I need to decide whether to pay extra?
