Upon checking the inbound plane a few minutes before boarding was scheduled to start, I noticed that the plane had not even departed from Hannover yet. Shortly after, they made an announcement at the gate telling everyone that the plane would be arriving late due to the fog situation here at Frankfurt (even though the weather didn’t look that bad). As I was now expecting about one hour delay, my train connection in Paris would get really tight (if not impossible) to catch. As I had already planned for this and booked a refundable ticket for my train ride from Paris, I logged into my booking and tried to rebook to a later train. Unfortunately, all the other direct trains on that day between Paris and Cologne seemed to be completely sold out, so I had to come up with a different solution. A bit of research showed me that there was a train leaving directly from Charles de Gaulle airport to Brussels where I could then catch a connection in the direction of Cologne. I cancelled the old ticket and booked a new one as I was not expecting to actually make my train connection with that much of a delay (and with the original ticket, I would have to travel from Charles de Gaulle to Paris Nord first, while with the new ticket, I would be able to catch the train directly at the airport).
About 10 minutes after boarding was originally scheduled to start, our plane pulled up to the gate and unloaded its passengers. Boarding for our flight started approximately 40 minutes behind schedule, and when we were ready for pushback, we had to wait a few more minutes as the taxiways around concourse A were congested. All in all we took off from runway 18 more than one hour behind schedule.
Lufthansa business class on narrowbody aircraft certainly is nothing fancy at all. On this flight, breakfast is served (my third breakfast for the day) and I constantly find breakfast to be the best meal of the day both on Lufthansa and Swiss.
Other than that, nothing not worth it happened on this flight (apart from the fact that the plane was really full), and asked a slightly more than one hour we were approaching a cloudy Paris.
After arriving at the terminal and leaving the plane it’s took another 15 to 20 minutes until the bags start arriving. As it turned out, I would have missed my original train connection by just five minutes, and I was really glad to have rebooked the train ride earlier.
