I often book car hire locally so I then don't get the BA extras so that is why I have the excess insurance. I also never book Avis at the same time as booking a flight because, although it might give a discount, it then become a "package" and it then falls under the BA Holidays umbrella. I would prefer to deal with BA not BA Holidays for my flights.
