Yes, the straight seats are better for privacy and I do tend to prefer them.
But after a few last minute upgrades to angled seats, they're different, but not all that bad.

Really no different then a herringbone config seat, and unlike a reverse herringbone, your head is insulated from the aisle which I find to be an improvement.
One minor downside is the FA's can't easily see your drink table, so empty glasses tend to pile up while you pine for a refill.
