A/C assignment has been well covered here.
From an FA perspective, it’s both the HKG and SFO bases that suffer from a lines of flying perspective.
The company is immediately offering COLA (Leaves of Absence) for FAs for 1, 2, or 3 months out of HKG and SFO.
They are also redistributing flying lines for February, ensuring that no individual line is less than 69 hours, per the contract. As February was already awarded, the company will pay the lines of flying for China flights as assigned, but will reassign these FAs to other flights, as needed. They have also said they will fly aircraft for the rest of February on SFO-HKG with more than the standard number of FAs. The biggest impact will be on Reserve FAs out of both bases - they will ultimately have their flying hours reduced the most, likely to the minimum 69 hours.
For March, the HKG base will keep the HKG-SFO-ICN-SFO-HKG pairing, but HND will be assigned to the SFO base to partially make up for the loss of SFO-China flying. Each individual line will likely be reduced, too - so instead of picking up a line with, say, 100 hours for the month, the lines will have 69-80 hours, as an example. This means that lower seniority FAs in both bases who are able to hold a line today will likely be pushed to Reserve for these months.
