Are there still any flights between the US and China? Last I heard was earlier in the week when UA was down to 4 flights per day. I wonder how the loads are.

I was thinking about the lawsuit brought by the AA pilots. My understanding is that the crews don't want to spend over 48 hours over there. How much rest is a crew required to have to make the next flight? I thought the extended layover in China was because of potential air traffic delays when departing. With less air travel in and out of China period, if UA would be willing to take that chance in a time of emergency and just give the crews their minimum rest, that could help the situation with the crews.

Also, how does the FAA feel about temporary regulation modifications during a time of emergency? Fly with 2 crews, one crew flies over, abbreviated rest, second crew flies back? I admit there is a cost issue, but could save problems in the future, including retaining some customer base. (Oh wait, what am I thinking? UA doesn't care about anything other than the dollar today.)
