All I want to add to the previous posts is that we have done exactly what's suggested in the past: don't pay for seats (this was before we had free seat selection..) and each time we've done this on a 788 we've been assigned the best seats for a family of 3 anyway: 3DEF or 7DEF. Can't beat those, put the kiddo in the middle and both of the parents can see/help them easily.
