Agreed, the only way it makes sense to me is on the international destinations because that gives you the ability to pay flight as well as the taxes at 1.5x with CSR. You have to pay taxes out of pocket with SW point bookings (unless there's something I don't know). You also get the benefit of earning on the flight since it's considered a revenue ticket through the chase portal as opposed to SW points. But a domestic booking is more advantageous with SW points and coughing up the $5.60.
