Good luck.
I an looking forward to hearing how this turns out.
To some people arguing that this venture is unreasonable: I think it's reasonable to expect BA to keep it's tariffs up to date, so imho the whole thing is justified.
Morally one could argue that the whole adventure is a bit opportunistic, however, I'm pretty sure the time spent by the OP on this far out-weights any of the monetary compensation he might receive.
As for the compensation not only direct financial losses (the train tickets) are counted, but also indirect once (Loss of time: OP could have worked at a Lounge instead of sitting in the train) I'm not exactly sure how this works in Canada but I suppose it might be similar.
In a more general sense it is partially due to such claims that there is progress and dynamic in our laws and regulations and it's only like that, that precedents are made and previous uncertainties cleared up. This is exactly what our judiciary is for.
Definitely a story worth following.
On an unrelated note: If in the future I have any consumer issues in Canada I shall send for OP at once
