OP - I realize that you've said that you want to stick with your current schedule, but have you looked at alternatives? UA would move you to one with PE for the asking. If not, you are due a refund as a matter of contract. A customer service gesture is in UA's discretion and is a separate issue as the former is a refund to the original form of payment, while the latter is a credit.
