Fleet upgrade A220-100 or E190-E2?
Having made comparisons between the two contenders the A220-100 wins convincingly.
A220-100 [Clean sheet design]
1) Can carry more pax
2) More range (including capability to fly direct to JFK - great Buisness Jet option)
3) 3+2 Seat configuration/good seat pitch
4) Bigger windows
5) Although costs more BA would undoubtedly negotiate deals at cost price
6) Passenger experience is better (according to the public themselves) and would fly A220
over E2
7) Fly-by-wire, compliments BA Mainline Short-Haul fleet
8) TOLD performance for the 1500m runway is outstanding
9) Can open up new routes outside existing fleets range
E190-E2 (New wing, lifted pylons for bigger engines, raised landing gear - not clean sheet)
1) $25m cheaper!
2) Upgraded Avionics Suite
3) 2+2 Seat configuration/seat pitch questionable?
4) 4 feet longer fuselage
5) Minimal flight-crew training required as already operating E-Jets
6) Cabin crew already familiar with E-Jet
7) Engineering teams require minimal differences training
8) Easier to phase out existing fleet
9) TOLD performance a little better
Any other suggestions?
