I can see one issue here: when you are entering China, you are compelled to fill out a form.
On that form, you need to specify your exit flight and date. They won't check the reservations for your exit flight, but what are you going to write on the form?
the forwarded flight for which you don't hold tickets yet? You are not 100% sure that the airline will be able to meet your request.
You will fill in your original flight? but then you'll have a problem at exit, since your date on the form and your actual exit date don't match, and maybe the flight number too.
I cannot predict the outcome of this endeavour.
I would suggest to write on the form the booked tickets and stick to it. Or prepared to give explanations... I wouldn't do that, especially in China.
