Shangrila has older hardware but well maintained. Alot of the room views have become compromised by all the construction around it. Hotel isn't tall enough to tower over the new builds. Service and concierge is definitely more formal and polished than Andaz. SL pool isn't much or a pool and not a great public bath facility either. The paid CHI spa is one of the best in Tokyo.
Thanks Aventine. I guess they’re both very good hotels and can’t really go wrong with either. We’ve stayed at MO previously (and loved it) but thought we’d try somewhere different this time. Aman is a bit more than we’d like to spend.
it’ll probably come down to seeing if I could get a guaranteed upgrade to a premier room at SL through golden circle benefits, as that would probably be worth it (seems like Andaz Prive upgrades would be view rather than a bigger room).
