Frequently at SFO they aren't at a hard stand as such, but over at the maintenance facility undergoing some form of maintenance.

My presumption would be that cleaning staff likely aren't allowed access the planes when they are over there, plus it's a long way away from the terminals by van.

Of course, none of that explains why they couldn't have cleaned it on arrival rather than departure, but perhaps there's a reason that's when do it...
