Thanks for the responses! The main reason I'd like to check it all the way to New York is so I won't need to retrieve my luggage again in Toronto. So if I need to do reclaim my luggage for customs, this would be a moot point. I'm hoping that this isn't the case since it's all AC. Unfortunately on separate tickets.
