In any case the X-ray was post baggage claim. Question was not asked there. CBP was directing an entire group to the X-ray.
Yesterday the officer collecting the receipt in JFK T1 asked "anything to declare".
Standard form:
(a) fruits, vegetables, plants, seeds, food, insects
(b) meats, animals, animal/wildlife products
(c) disease agents, cell cultures, snails
(d) soil or have been on a farm/ranch/pasture
