People who cook dried chickpeas (or dried beans) may know that the advice is to check for pebbles first. The pebbles can be picked up during mechanized harvesting and, if similar in size and shape to the harvested legume, may not get caught by the sorting machine. Of course, you wouldn't want to bite down on one, but their presence doesn't mean that some unimaginable disaster has occurred.
