Which is why I think the C upgrade vouchers people like to drool at in this subforum are becoming less of a benefit compared to the OW competition. Eventhough I'm based here in the home market for AY, there's very little incentive to do any changes to my OW flight habits. Would easily do AY+ Platinum taken my activity level in 2019 and 2020, but I see AY screwing up the benefit with waitlists for anything that involves the U bucket prior to T-60. And I assume it's also not certain that a points upgrade from U will clear right away at less than T-60? I wonder what's the usefulness with AY award points, if one can't use them for C prior to T-60 with guaranteed award bookings? Not only talking upgrades here, but awards as well. Book Y or hope you make it throught the waitlist? Duh, well, I assume partner awards would be the better bet then.

I always keep monitoring my options, but so far AY+ is going in a direction that makes me less interested to consider it in the future.

Well, to be able to compare, what kind of benefits does BA Gold, also OWE, get you aside from the usual priority, lounge access etc?
Does BAEC have complimentary upgrade vouchers, what's their validity period and how easy are they to use? Do you have the option of upgrading with points, even from the cheapest booking classes, and without a copay? If yes, what's availability like?
The only thing I know about BAEC is that award availability on BA is generally very good, but the copay is absolutely crazy, which in turn makes the miles practically useless save for special cases, like AA / QF domestic awards.
