Arguably it could confuse the infrequent/inexperienced flyer, who may then choose to buy another bag for no good reason. But to be fair, the inexperienced flyer is unlikely to even bother checking their seats on the Swiss website in the first place.

Oddly enough, the LX iPhone app did show my baggage allowance - but only on the single-flight detail screen (the one with the map at the top), which seems to be something app-specific. Once you click through into the individual details you seem to end up on what is effectively the website and it no longer knows your allowance.
