2. The USA Platinum does not award 5 points per dollar for Travel. It is 5 points for Airfare and for Hotels (but only if booked through amextravel.com)
3. The value of the points earned in the two programs is not the same.
4. If you have friends or relatives living in the USA, or if you make return visits to the USA, you probably can use the airline fee reimbursement benefit.
1. That's the signup bonus, 100 euro for the german card and I assumed 100k MR for the US card (that's what I got). However that number is only used for the Net 1 year cell, not really relevant.

3. Could you elaborate on this, do you get a different kind of MR with the german card? Are the transfer partners the same?
4. Perhaps, but we can all agree that benefit is hard to use, more so in my situation.
