For a 3-4 day Army reserve weekend I normally pack boots, uniform, workout clothes, hotel room clothes, slippers, bottle opener. . . and going out to dinner clothes all in packing cubes and use a Sandpiper of California Bugout Bag as my go to. It is 100% black including zippers per regulation. Have had this particular bag for close to 10 years and it keeps on going. I pack this thing so full (normally only when down range) that I feel the shoulder straps will fail and I will be up the creek at a critical time. But so far so good. Also have this one which is almost exactly the same style but lighter material and green in color, my black one may not be available any longer.

One of the reasons I prefer to one bag it if conditions allow is that my check baggage seems to take so long to arrive on the belt wasting time. So many times (especially here in Hawaii HNL) my checked bags WITH priority tags on them still come out close to last, that in a nutshell is my sad checked luggage story. I am also the guy who will study the grocery store lines and determine the best and quickest line to go through only to have someone price check an item, in the fast checkout line, right when I'm getting up to the checkout with only 3 small items and payment in hand.
