Diners has an odd system of awarding two points for every dollar changed and two points to redeem every mile. The exception of course is the BA summer promotion where miles are redeemed one for one, meaning that for you get one BA mile for every club reward point or 2 BA miles for every dollar charged. For the sign up bonus you get 2000 club rewards points a month for a total of 24000 club rewards points, which during the annual summer promo is worth 24,000 BA miles. What you read about was probably people making the 2:1 conversion.
