Last christmas/Nye they had occupancy rate of > 90%. Even the private island, stella maris and the multi bedroom villas were fully booked.
WA is catering for the big spenders, who choose between Dom, Krug or Cristal and not to Flyertalkers who, according to some recent postings, decided to have in room dining on Nye or had only 2 bottles of water during Nye Gala.
It is more likely, that a guest who is paying about 5000++ $ a night is spending more money than a guest who is staying on points or free night certificates.
Some measures taken by the hotel
Ban of outside transfer means no cheap operators allowed, but they have no problems allowing yachts from 4S or O&O bringing guests.
Minimum stay at festive season means no free night certificates redeemable.
Mandatory charges on Christmas or NYE according to this thread ridiculous for most people planning a points stay.
I’ve been in direct email contact with the hotel. Festive season (and the 10 day minimum stay) ends January 9, 2021. Why would the hotel hold back inventory in late January?
