Hi,
Have a question about my itinerary next week. ORD->MCO->IAD->RDU->ORD. I will need to check a bag full of equipment with me and use it in MCO. I will then board a plane from MCO to Raleigh, taking a 1-stop flight. I will also need the same checked bag in Raleigh. My itinerary shows this trip as round trip from Chicago to Raleigh and back. My question is: How do I get United to NOT transfer my bag directly to Raleigh? My concern is that the itinerary appears as if I was taking a 2 stop flight to Raleigh whereas I booked it with the intention of having a two destination trip (MCO, RDU), then returning home. My guess is that it's because ORD->MCO and MCO->IAD->RDU all occur on the same day.
I have called the premier line and the lady has indicated that I'd need to go to the Orlando baggage department and have them pull the bag for me. I'm hoping to avoid this process as my trip is somewhat time-sensitive and I've never done that before. I asked if she could split my reservation however I was denied unless I pay a change fee. I also asked if I can get the desk agents in Chicago if they can tag it for Orlando instead. Anyone have experience with this?
