But 15k yen is about $136 (USD). 8k pts at the regular price are $192 (USD). Why not just pay for the room with money? It's much cheaper.

Even with the 40% bonus (which is the best sale they have) it's the same price. If I were you I'd just reserve it now to guard against the price going up.
