He mentioned "climate change" not "global warming" The two are not synonymous. The climate is constantly changing. Plenty of one off volcanos in human history have caused climate changes for a few years or more. El Nino is a climate change phenomena. I don't think that quote (or at least the link you provided) blamed "global warming".
