Simply put, it is a balancing act. What other airline allows me to book a 240 USD roundtrip to China and upgrade using an instrument? DL is better overall, but their elite program is not. UA.. not a chance. They're better than they used to be, but still generally mediocre and FT cribbing aside, AAdvantage runs circles around MileagePlus.
I've considered moving to DL especially with the horrid summer of 2019 when almost every flight was delayed and I resorted to carry duct tape in my backpack for minor issues, but despite living in 2 UA hubs - not a chance I'm moving to them.
