If you want good customer service and you are willing to give up a few other things to get it, (questionable network, being statusless on international flights), I'd recommend AS.

They generally have good customer care, and will even bend their rules occasionally, at least for those with status.

Example: Last year I had a JFK-SFO flight cancelled when another plane (from a different airline) bumped us while pushing back, and I was rebooked for the next day. They were giving out vouchers to some hotel in Jamaica, but I didn't take one and instead went back to Manhattan and paid for another night in the same hotel I had been at, and enjoyed a night out. After got home, I contacted customer care by phone, submitted receipts, and they reimbursed my hotel room (despite it costing more than their stated limit, though, it was reasonable, particularly by Manhattan standards) and my lyft rides to/from the airport (which are significant between Manhattan and JFK). I just had Gold status and was on a relatively cheap economy ticket. There was no arguing or haggling... I explained what happened and asked if I could get my expenses reimbursed, and they asked me to email my receipts in. I did, and I had a check within a week.
