It depends on the location, length of trip, time of year, comparable flight time and cost. Clearwater, Florida, where I spent time during the winter is a 20 hour drive and I wouldn't drive for a week long trip but will drive if I plan to be there for a month. My hometown in Northern Ontario is an 8 hour drive away while the door to door flight time is around 5. The extra cost of airport parking, flight, car rental isn't worth saving 6 hours so I will drive but not in the winter.
