That is patently false. US, like most other countries, gets APIS data from airlines (see https://www.cbp.gov/travel/travel-in...ersonnel/apis2). If any of your data doesn't match (e.g. passport number, status, nationality, etc.) that was transmitted, there is a real chance of you having problems.
