Just a quick follow up.
On appeal to UA through the MP website I was given a credit in the form of a voucher for the back end of my non-refundable IAD-FLL-IAD ticket. They are also sending me another voucher for my MCO-IAD ticket, I will not disclose the amount but I'm happy with it.
All in all, I think they were very charitable in their compensation especially with what others have posted about the pricing of tickets for walkups and and co-terminals.
And yes, I intend to give the vouchers back to our travel office for use on another date. My expense report for the ticket portion is on hold until I receive the vouchers and the government will only be charged the delta.
Another interesting note that I didn't mention before. While I was heading down concourse at IAD towards the shuttle lounges to get back to the main terminal at about 8:30 AM, I heard a last call for a UA flight to Miami. Just thought it was funny that people were heading towards an imminent natural disaster. I know people have families they have to get back too, just thought it was ironic.
