I'm flying EVA AIR for the first time and stressing about the 4" width on the Personal Item (16" x 12" x 4"). I've been searching the internet for days, and found no feedback on this. Since I am traveling from the US to the Philippines for a 2 week trip with only carry on and no checked baggage, this is important to me. None of my purses is even 4" width! I want to use a bag I purchased just for this purpose, but the width definitely exceeds 4" (more like 8"), although the other dimensions comply. Of note is that my personal bag is nylon and pliable/crushable. Will my personal item be measured at the gate and denied?? I don't even own a bag that complies with the 4" width, it's pretty ridiculous considering the other two dimensions are generous and common with other airlines. Can someone with experience please advise? Thanks so much!
