If I bought a Y class fare from DEN-MNL. My brother applied a GPU upgrading my SFO-HKG fare on UA metal. My connecting flight to MNL is in Y on CX. Will I be able to access the J lounges in HKG?

I can't quite make heads or tails of this statement in the CX policy and if it applies to this scenerio.

Note on Business Class lounges: Passengers offered complimentary upgrades to Business Class are not entitled to lounge access, unless access is otherwise available based on eligible frequent flyer programme tier (for example, Marco Polo Club Silver and Gold members will be entitled entry to the Business Class lounge regardless of class of travel).
