For the second year in a row, AC have cancelled the LHR 868 daytripper for the spring - it's just been dropped for all of February, March, and April.

When this happened last year, the suggestion was that it was due to the MAX adventures ... but this year (and re-reading the posts above, possibly last year too), AC did not actually reduce the number of daily flights from YYZ-LHR, they still operate 4 flights a day on that route.

Prior to this change, they had the daytripper departing YYZ in the morning, and then three evening flights departing YYZ at approximately 6:30pm, 9:30pm, and 11:30pm. With this change, all they've done is add a 4th evening departure at 8:30pm - so it doesn't sound like there's any fleet reduction going on.

I'm aware that AC makes schedule changes all the time, and I have read all the comments above (from last year) ... but it still strikes me as curious that they'd remove such a distinct and unique option, and replace it with service that's approaching hourly between 6:30pm and 9:30pm - and make that change only for the spring.

I'd understand it if so few people liked the 868 timing that the loads were too light, or if the daytripper timing was just too inefficient to operate from a fleet capacity perspective ... but in either case, I'd expect them to cancel the daytripper service altogether, and they didn't - it's still operating in January, and it returns in May. Just seems like an interesting change to make for two springs in a row, that's all.
