I just had my last 7 night certificate extended. Expiration was March '20. I made points reservation for Thanksgiving week '20 and then had the 7 night certificate applied to it giving the reservation number.
The points for the booking showed in my activity as caming out and then being redeposited the same day.
This is the only time I've not had a problem that needed multiple calls to fix when using these certificates.
